SELİN AYCİL (B.A., 2009) I started studying at Yaşar in 2005 and I am one of the department’s first graduates. During my time as a student, I had the opportunity to take quality education from specialised academicians, and I also formed a cultural and social basis for my future career. I also joined the Erasmus programme and studied in Portugal for one semester. After I graduated, I found myself working at the International Office of Yaşar University, and worked there for some time. In the meantime, I received an MA in English Language Teaching from Ege University. I feel quite lucky because I studied English Language and Literature which, I believe, helped me gain an understanding towards cultural diversity, a fine knowledge of language, and competence in communication. After a good 8 years at Yaşar, I currently work at Sabancı University in the Department of International Student Recruitment.

BİLAL TEKİN (B.A. 2012, M.A.-still) When I was first introduced to Yaşar University in 2007, I just was not sure about the quality of the university. Also, because I was a scholarship student, I had serious concerns about the education that I was going to receive. However, the five years I spent at the university showed how correct I was in my preference. The undergraduate education I received from specialised academicians between 2007 and 2012 is the fundamental reason why I regard myself a well-equipped graduate of English Language and Literature. As an undergraduate student, I tried to benefit from both social and academic resources that the university provided. One of the best opportunities that the department provided at the time was that they imported academicians from Ege University for the pedagogical formation programme. The English Language Teaching classes that I took during the 3rd and 4th years formed the basis of my current job. After I received a degree in English Language and Teaching, I also applied for the MA programme and was granted a full scholarship in 2012. At the moment, I’m working on my thesis. Since my first year in the MA programme, I’ve also worked as a part-time English Language Instructor at Dokuz Eylül and Yaşar Universities. My connection with Yaşar and the department has been uninterrupted for 8 years now, and I often think that I’m so glad to have come to Yaşar as a student. |

PELİN DÜNDAR (B.A., 2013) I decided to study English Language and Literature at yaşar University while I was walking around the campus to make a final decision in 2009. After I started studying at Yaşar, I found myself more confident about my decision. I’ve always felt lucky for working with the academics I had the opportunity to know here who transferred their knowledge and experience in the field in such admirable ways, which was another proof that I had made the right decision. After I graduated, I worked at İstanbul Radio Station of TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Association) for one year where I was in the production team of a live-streamed culture and art and cinema programme. Later, I returned to İzmir. Since then, I’ve worked at Bahçeşehir Schools as an English Language teacher. |

TUĞBA KALAYCI (B.A. 2012) I started studying at Yaşar University as a full scholarship student in 2009. Thanks to the department’s well-equipped academic staff, wide range of social activities, and the opportunity to take classes from other departments considerably helped me improve myself in many directions. I can say from the bottom of my heart that I spent the best and most fruitful years of my life here. After I graduated, I worked as an education coordinator at Teol Şişli Language School. Currently, I work as an English Language Teacher in a public school affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, and I am planning to further my studies in the field. |
